Bisibele Bath Recipe by Gowri Chebbi
To prepare the Bisibele Bath Powder, take 2 Tbsp each of Bengal gram dhal and Black gram dhal, 1 Cup of Coriander Seeds, 4 Tbsp of Dry grated coconut, ½ Cup of Broken Red Chilies, a 2-inch cinnamon stick, 3-4 Cardamoms, 3-4 Cloves, 3 Tsp of Poppy seeds, and 2 Tsp of Marata Maggu. Dry roast each ingredient separately until they turn a light gold color, then grind them into a smooth powder.
For the main dish, you'll need 1 Cup of Sona Masoori Rice, 1 Cup of Toor Dhal, 2 Tbsp of Tamarind pulp, and 4 Tbsp of the bisibelebath powder you just prepared.
The vegetables to include are 10 strings of beans and 2 carrots, both cut into small pieces, ½ Cup of Green peas, and 1 Chow chow (chayote squash), also cut into small pieces. Add salt to taste.
Lastly, for the seasoning, heat 2 Tbsp of oil and 2 Tbsp of Ghee in a pan. Once hot, add 1 tsp of Mustard seeds, ¼ tsp of Asafetida, 2 Red chilies, 6-8 Curry leaves, and 8-10 broken cashew nuts. Stir well until fragrant and combine with the main dish.
